Global Grants Presentation
Dave McSpadden will speak to us about a Rotary Foundation Grant opportunity proposed by the Waxahachie Rotary Club. Dave is in the WaxahachieRotary Club.wokring on a grant to build a women's surgery center in Kenya, Africa.
The Rotary Club Of Waxahachie, TX (the "International Club") and the Rotary Club of Suna Migori Kenya (the "Host Club", are seeking District 5810 Clubs to join with them to support an application to The Rotary Foundation (TRF) for a Global Grant (GG). The GG funds will be used to equip and supply a new Women’s Surgical Center at the RTC Medical Centre (RTCMC) in Homa Bay County (HBC), Kenya. HBC is a large rural and villages area that has a population of approximately 1,200,000 people. According to the Kenya Health Ministry a large percentage of the women in this very poor rural county in Southwestern Kenya suffer with illness and disease unique to women’s health. These include having to be th sole bread winner while carrying untreated urinary, uterine, and gynecological illnesses including Caesarian birth requirements. Women who must provide for their children daily cannot afford to travel 80-miles to th nearest hospital that has the facilities to care for them. This lack of affordability is due to not havin transportation and not being able to take the time to be placed into in-patient care at such a long distance from their children.
