For more than a decade, Rotary clubs in the United States and Mexico have been investing in children’s education in Nayarit, providing scholarships, building libraries, and rehabbing school buildings. Carolina Gonzales Rivas, a scholarship recipient and now a Rotary member, talks about how Rotary has influenced her life.

Australian accountant Ian H.S. Riseley, a member of the Rotary Club of Sandringham, Victoria, was selected by the Nominating Committee and will become the president-nominee on 1 October if there are no challenges from other candidates. Riseley has been a member since 1978, and has served Rotary as treasurer, director, trustee, RI Board Executive Committee member, task force member, committee member and chair, and district governor.
Did you know that Rotary inducts approximately 10% new Rotarians each year? This means that District 5810 has approximately 300 new Rotarians each year who will receive the benefits from our informative, well organized and enjoyable NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION along side of our Seasoned Rotarians .
At Rotary University, ROTARY BASICS not only serves as the first class of a four part series, leading participants to receive a graduation certificate and become a member of the prestigious Rotary U Alums, it also serves as a fabulous NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION, augmenting each club's introduction into Rotary.
This orientation is well deserved by your newest members, helping them to launch their new Rotary career in the best w ay possible. The program begins at the beginning, with an introduction of the life and times of Paul P. Harris, Rotary's Founder. Then, we cover the events throughout Rotary's history that have made it the oldest, largest and most influential humanitarian organization in the world. What is covered after this is a detailed presentation of Rotary's Principles and Guidelines. Important information is also covered regarding service projects and fund raising. The Rotary Foundation is explored along with the tremendous results of the Polio Plus program. Consequently, the general response to this program is that participants sign up for the next one, CLUB OPERATIONS, (Club Ops).
We are proud of the evaluations, since the beginning of the program's launch, that have provided feedback of Rotary University's impact on the lives of our participants! We expect the same results from this semester's attendees.

The reason for such a great day is that today is one of the best opportunities for you to invite your members to Rotary University’s – ROTARY BASICS class scheduled for next month, on Saturday, September 19th at the new hours of 8:00am to 3:30pmat SMU’s main campus. Rotarians have had tremendous results for this particular program, especially for clubs’ newest members!
We need to hear from you by Thursday, September 17th at 12:00 noon by registering your members at Rotary5810.org. [Please see RotaryUniversitySouthwest.org for more details.] After this deadline, by 12:30pm, we go to the printer with the final count in order to print each attendee’s personal manual.
Won’t you please help your newest members get the BEST possible start to their Rotary career and invite them to join us?
This class is an absolute MUST for your up and coming club leaders as a part of the entire Rotary University course, helping to give them an insight not available anywhere else.
We’re the only District in the world that has this program.
By the way, many clubs are paying the $50. fee for Rotary Basics in order to help these Rotarians get involved and become more effective leaders years before they may have in the past. Also, an important side benefit is that these programs help clubs with member retention and identifying future Rotary leaders.
Don’t miss this opportunity. There won’t be another ROTARY BASICSprogram until the spring of 2016.
