Member Spotlight

The Richardson East Rotary Club is excited to introduce our new Member Spotlight Series. Our January 2026 Member Spotlight is Yvonne Falgout. We asked Yvonne a few questions about herself, Rotary, and what she enjoys doing. We hope you enjoy getting to know her!

Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am a parks and recreation professional with more than 30 years of experience, having served three different cities throughout my career. I am passionate about this profession because of its wide range of focus and the meaningful impact our work has on families and the community. I am the proud mother of two grown sons and a beautiful stepdaughter, and I am blessed with a wonderful daughter-in-law and son-in-law, as well as a joyful five-year-old granddaughter. Outside of work, I am a devoted dog lover and share my life with two delightfully crazy pups.

What do you do in your job and what do you love about it?
I oversee the Richardson Parks and Recreation Department, which encompasses recreational facilities, parks, trails, medians and rights-of-way, as well as facility and amenity planning, maintenance, programs, special events, and more. No two days are ever the same, as we serve a diverse range of customers—from young children to active older adults. I love this profession because it fulfills my desire to give back and serve others. I believe we are designed to serve, and that true fulfillment comes from improving the quality of life for others by investing into them.

What inspired you to join Rotary?
I explored several service clubs prior to promoting into my current role. After the promotion, I chose to pause before joining an organization. Over the years, I had enjoyed multiple visits to Rotary, with the East Club consistently at the top of my list. When the invitation to consider joining came, it was the nudge I needed to take that leap.

Is there a service project that you have been involved with that stands out?
I have volunteered at numerous service projects, including service days at Network, the Medical Center Courtyard Rehab, and Party in the Park. While I have enjoyed all of them, the Courtyard Rehab project stood out the most. I value hands-on, physical work and the ability to see tangible progress. Working side by side with others creates opportunities to learn about them on a deeper level—their personalities, work styles, and strengths—which helped me feel like a part of the club rather than just a new member. Knowing the courtyard provides a direct benefit to mental health truly sealed the deal for me.

What is your favorite restaurant or small business in Richardson?
There are TOO many favorites to pick just one, but Wildwood Café is on the list for top 5 favorites though.
Rotary Spirit Nights

We have several opportunities for our club members, friends, family and community to help us on our journey of raising funds for Annie's Place Pavilion. Spread the word to everyone you know!

A huge thank you to the local businesses pitching in to make this vision a reality.
