The 2016 Christmas Party was held at the home of Doug and Cassie Crosby. We had an awesome time in their beautiful home. Delicious food and great fun with our Rotary friends and spouses. The White Elephant gift exchange was very vivid this year with some surprise gifts that drew some big laughters.
Are you interested in offering new membership types in your club? Robert Fisher, of the Rotary Club of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, recently described his experience with corporate memberships. Learn how his club applied this new flexibility to increase membership.
Here’s what clubs need to know about corporate memberships and other new membership types:
• Clubs are free to offer alternative memberships of any kind. For corporate memberships, clubs count individuals as members, not the corporations that sponsor them.
• If corporate members pay RI dues, they will be included in their club’s official membership count and receive all the benefits that other active, dues-paying members enjoy.
• Clubs can have special policies for these members’ other financial obligations (club and district dues, meal costs, etc.), attendance requirements, or service expectations, as long as the club bylaws reflect these policies.

On a warm day in October, Ingrid Schwab and a team of Rotary staff members join a group of dancing and singing children in Khera Khurd on the outskirts of Delhi, India, for an immunization day rally. “We are greeted with beating drums, beaming smiles, and fragrant flower garlands … we smile and laugh and our delight is captured on camera. Quite a celebration.”

"Our Rotary club was saddened to learn this week of the death of one of our most valued members, Someone Else. Someone's passing creates a vacancy that will be difficult to fill. Else has been with us for many years and for every one of those years, Someone did far more than a normal person's share of the work.
Whenever there was a job to do, a class to teach, or a meeting to attend, one name was on everyone's list, "Let Someone Else do it." Whenever leadership was mentioned, this wonderful person was looked to for inspiration as well as results; "Someone Else can work with that group."
It was common knowledge that Someone Else was among the most liberal givers in our club. Whenever there was a financial need, everyone just assumed Someone Else would make up the difference.
Someone Else was a wonderful person; sometimes appearing superhuman. Were the truth known, everybody expected too much of Someone Else. Now Someone Else is gone! We wonder what we are going to do.
Someone Else left a wonderful example to follow, but who is going to follow it? Who is going to do the things Someone Else did?
When you are asked to help in your club this year, remember -- they can't depend on Someone Else anymore. Many hands make little work!"
