What your gift to The Rotary Foundation supports

A gift of $50 helps provide a personal water filter, offering simple, sustainable access to clean water in places like rural Guatemala. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people — children, families, and entire communities — benefit from projects funded by The Rotary Foundation. For #GivingTuesday on 2 December, Rotary invites you to consider how your gift can help the Foundation continue to create positive, lasting change.

1500 tickets will be sold for the Luxury Sports Vacation benefiting The Rotary Foundation.  Do you have yours yet?  The odds are better than you can get anywhere.  Better than Vegas!  Better than the Lottery!  Better than Choctaw!  And in addition to great odds, you will benefit Our Rotary Foundation and earn Paul Harris credit.  If you win, we will even pay the taxes on the prize for you.

The prize is your choice of one of four Luxury Vacation packages for two, all of which include 1st class airfare and 5 star accommodations:
  • Super Bowl
  • 2 World Series games
  • 4 days at the Masters
  • Kentucky Derby
Details of all the packages can be found at www.rotary5810.org.  The value of each package is approximately $25,000. Tickets are $100 each and you can buy up to 10.
How can you get Raffle Tickets? There are a couple of ways to get your tickets:
  • Go online to www.rotary5810.org and purchase using a credit card.I will mail you the ticket stubs.
  • Many Rotarians in the district have tickets you can purchase including all Assistant Governors, the Governor Team, Glen Rowe, and many club presidents. If you would like to get tickets to sell to others please let me know and I can get them to you.
How can I pay for tickets?  You can pay by cash, check or credit card

How do I get Paul Harris credit by buying raffle tickets?  Short answer is that 100% of the net proceeds will go to The Rotary Foundation pro-rata to all the Rotarians in District 5810 that purchased tickets. Full details of the rules can be found at www.rotary5810.org

When is the drawing?  December 31st at a location to be determined.  All ticket holders will be notified of the exact time and location.

Please join me in congratulating Rotarian Langford Sneed on receiving the Unsung Hero Award at the EDGE Luncheon on Wednesday. Langford joined Richardson East in 1989, and he has maintained perfect attendance since that time. He has served in countless officer positions for the club including Treasurer, Sergeant-at-Arms, Community Service Chair, Vocational Service Chair, and Program Director and International Service on two separate occasions. Over the years, he has owned a Hunter Fan Store, a garage door company, and a gift shop, all while continuing his chosen career as a pharmacist. He takes care of our club members' medical ailments with his back home remedies and can fix a garage door almost immediately. Langford is always there whenever he is needed. To quote another one of our outstanding Rotarians, Wendall Ritz, "Langford is Superman and the Flash all in one - a Marvel Character."

Congratulations, Langford! You are appreciated and respected for your exemplary service above self!

Thanks,

Kathy Higgins

The toilet block construction is progressing. Here is an update from Puru in India and a picture of what it will look like when complete.

Dear Woody,
We have just received the plan for the Elevation.
We have also requested Architect PDG Selvam to add:

Dear RERC members. Please note that there is a new "widget" added to the website and bulletin. Currently there are 3 pages added: Small Groups Fall 2014, Scholarships 2015 and RERC Buddy introductions. These pages give us a better possibility of grouping "longer lasting" items together on our website. On the scholarships page we will keep track of our scholarship recipients and have the ability to direct applicants for more information. The buddy pages is a new addition to our web site and I am asking all of you to write a story about your Rotary buddy (by interviewing them), first out is Wendall with his introduction of Faye. In the Small Groups section we will keep the stories from the small groups as well as pictures.
