Teacher Appreciation
Richardson East Rotary Club had the pleasure of honoring two fantastic teachers last Wednesday 5/10, James Roberts, and Mandy Johnson. Each of them received a plaque and a monetary award.

Mandy Johnson
Mandy finds a variety of ways to bring learning to life beyond just pages or digital presentations. In the American Revolution unit, Mrs. Johnson brings the struggles of the colonists and war to life through a tug-of-war experience. Students learn and demonstrate the various push and pull factors along with the effects of significant battles between the Colonial and British troops. In the end, students are able to use this experience to have a great understanding to apply their learning and thinking when justifying the significant events of the American Revolution.

James Roberts
James Roberts is the teacher that students remember for the rest of their lives. He is passionate about his courses and the students respond by giving him their very best. He combines his love of education with the best teaching practices for an experience that helps transform his class into a place where students give their all, and achieve at levels they didn't believe possible.
Coach Roberts gives his all to the students of IL Texas. His peers recognized him as the 2022-2023 teacher of the year, and the students whole heartedly agree. He deserves to be recognized for his hard work .

5th Wednesday in the Garden
May 31st is the 5th Wednesday of May.  This means it's Voluntary Project Wednesday.  Our project this month is a Sensory Garden “community project “ workday starting at 5pm.  As part of our Ann Eisemann Inclusive Playground signature project, the city requested that we maintain the sensory garden at the entry of the playground.   It contains a Richardson East Rotary Club plaque discussing the project as well as our partnership with the City of Richardson and other donors.

If you have not seen the always large group of children enjoying the rides and fellowship at the playground, you’re in for a real treat.

We have more plants and ground cover to plant and can use YOUR help. Please wear your RERC gear if possible.
