This year we are proud to award the following students 4-year scholarships: Caleb Cole, Ana Berrios, Raqeeb Mohammed and Cooper Brown. We are equally proud to grant the following students 2-year scholarships: Amy Flower, Angela Garcia
The six recipients are each assigned a mentor, and are required to maintain their GPA while enrolling in a minimum number of credit hours to continue to receive their scholarship funds going forward. We encourage them to visit the Club during school breaks and engage with their mentor on a continual basis. 
Narrowing the group to 6 awardees was bittersweet for all on the committee. The need in our community is great, and the committee couldn’t help but ask, “How can we do more in the future?” There is no doubt that the Pandemic will place a continued strain on many families in the next few years as whole industries have been impacted and many local jobs lost. Since the inception of the Richardson East Rotary Club, well in excess of $400,000 has been granted in scholarships to local students to fulfill their dreams of attending college. The club’s annual Games and Gala Event raise the funds for the scholarship. We plan to ramp up our communication of the need for more contributions both at the annual fundraising event and throughout the year so we can make the dreams of MORE local young adults come to fruition with the grant of a scholarship. Giving hope to a young adult for their future is an amazing thing. As Lady Bird Johnson, another Texan, is quoted as saying, “Children are apt to live up to what you believe of them”.
Richardson East Rotary Club of Richardson Texas, does believe that children are the future, and helping them grow their knowledge is the best hand UP we could ever provide to them to foster a vibrant, thriving community.
Caleb Cole - Hi, my name is Caleb Cole. I will be attending Harding University in the fall and major in business. In high school I participated in activities such as DECA, Golf, a country and western dance team called Stampede, and a spirit team called Wranglers. I am excited to be part of this foundation and ready to see where life leads me next in college!
Ana Berrios - Hi my name is Ana Berrios. I just graduated from J.J. Pearce High School. I will be a first generation college student. I’m excited to say that I will be attending Sam Houston State University to major in Criminal Justice this upcoming fall. I’m planning on being involved in a selective freshman leadership program that I was chosen for at Sam Houston State. Overall I’m super excited and nervous to meet new people and start a new chapter in my life! Thank you to everyone who has made this scholarship a possibility.
Raqeeb Mohammed - My name is Raqeeb Mohammed and I am a recent high school graduate from Berkner High School. Despite moving to Texas from California only four years ago, I have loved getting involved with my school and community. I have enjoyed volunteering for a local hospice, organizing charitable events with my mosque, and being a team captain for my school's Academic Decathlon team among other things. In my free time, I like to dabble in gardening, journaling, and occasionally browsing through Twitter. One of my main aspirations is to make something meaningful pop up when you Google my name. To this end, I plan to study economics at Texas Tech University with a potential career focus on medicine.
Cooper Brown - Howdy my name is Cooper Brown and I graduated from JJ Pearce High school this past Spring and will be attending Texas A&M University this upcoming fall. During high I was involved in everything from Varsity football, to DECA (a business marketing competition), to even a country western dance team called stampede. At A&M I’m going to be pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering. My goal is to grow in my knowledge of math and science in order to develop creative solutions that better the lives of those in my community.
Amy Flower - Hi, my name is Amy Flower, and I am a graduate of J.J. Pearce High school. In high school, I was in Spanish Honors society, Sideline sweethearts, rocking climbing club, orchestra, cross country, and track. I also did a program called TAB to volunteer at the Richardson public library.
I will be planning to go to Richland college in the fall and be majoring in Nursing in the future. I am looking forward to learning how to be a nurse and help many people. I want to thank the Richardson East Rotary Club for helping me out.

Angela Garcia - I’m a J.J. Pearce graduate. I am studying to be a nursery nurse. I will be doing 2 years of community college in Brookhaven & after will be transferring to University at Texas in Arlington to get my bachelors. I can’t wait what my future holds for me. I’m super excited!!
