Ann Eisemann Inclusive Playground - Signature Project

In 2015, the Richardson East Rotary Club (RERC) approached the City of Richardson regarding their interest in collaborating with us on a “Signature Project”,. The criteria for the project was that it needed to be unique, create long-lasting community impact and be something that the club could be involved with long term.
From that was born the idea of an inclusive playground and a sensory garden, with Cottonwood Park selected for the location. In addition, the club planned to host a “Picnic for the Playground” to bring awareness to the project.

Ground breaking for the Ann Eisemann Inclusive Playground was held on January 13, 2019 and the ribbon cutting was held on April 23, 2019.

Richardson East Rotary Club continues to  maintain the sensory garden and to sponsor the Picnic for the Playground on an occasional basis.

2024 UPDATE: WE'RE GOING TO "MAKE IT HAPPEN" AGAIN
The Strategic Plan's Signature Project Committee has been meeting often and are narrowing down the details for RERC's next signature project. The committee hopes to brief the RERC Board on the details of the project soon for their review and approval including the fundraising goal for completing the project. The Club's full membership will be given a briefing of the project ASAP once the BOD has had their review and provided input.

Santa's Village and Christmas Parade

Every December , club members participate in traditional Richardson  events.

We volunteer as Parade Marshalls or Staging Volunteers in the Christmas Parade.

We also run the K-ELF TV Station in Santa's Village that is part of the tine town of 16 holiday dwellings.  Santa's Village is holiday tradition for Richardson families.  The K-ELF TV station is manned by club member volunteers who dress as an elf and interview the kids while village attendees watch on the outside to see what they want for Christmas!

Network of Community Ministries

Our weekly club meetings are held at Network of Community Ministries.   To thank Network for their generosity, we devote about one meeting a month to perform a service project for Network.  It might involve filling boxes for the food pantry or bags of snacks for children or working in the clothing closet, where ever Network needs volunteers.
